Mary Anne Collins

1928 - 2017

Mary Anne Collins, 88, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Novant Main Hospital, in Charlotte. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, with the family receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. and the service following at 11:00 a.m. at Back Creek ARP Church with Reverend Matt Carr officiating . Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Born August 3, 1928 in Charlotte, NC she was the daughter of the late Luke Jennings Morris and Mae Hoke "Jack" Morris. She was a member of Back Creek ARP Church for years and belonged to the Felos Sunday School Class. Mary Anne graduated from Central High School in 1947. Mrs. Collins worked for Southern Bell with 31 years of service before retiring on April 1, 1987. She enjoyed 30 years of retirement.

Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Oree Ross Collins. She is survived by her son, Joseph Luther Collins and his wife, Deborah Collins of Indian Trail, NC, their two children, Jennifer Collins Ledford, her husband Ryan Timothy Ledford and their 3 children, Jacob Ryan, Madison Grace, and Tyler Christian of Matthews, NC and Joseph Scot Collins, his wife Nicole Carter Collins and their 2 children, Carter Brianne and Braden Kinsley of Indian Trail, NC; her son Daniel Ross Collins and his wife, Carolyn Hurst Collins, their two children, William Ross and Melinda Anne, and her finance' Brandon Thomas Spicer of Matthews, NC; and her daughter Debbie Collins Caldwell, her husband Paul Edmond Caldwell and their son Nicholas Edmond of Concord, NC.

Mary Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother loved by all and will be missed dearly. She had dementia over the last 5 years of her life, but never complained and enjoyed her life to the fullest. She loved camping, watching kids play sports and just being with her family.

Mary Anne was a Christian all of her life it seems. She is now at home with Jesus, 2 Corinthians; absent from the body and present with the Lord.
