WILSON -- Mr. Davis, 92, died Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. The Rev. Dr. John Check and the Rev. Kristen Williams will officiate. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Elton was a special and devoted father, husband and friend to all. He was a dedicated member of Hornes United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Davis is survived by a daughter, Sheryl Tart of Cornelius; a son Jack Davis and wife, Sue of Greer, SC; two granddaughters, Nicole Hager and husband, Rod of Cornelius and Donna Coggins of Greenville, SC; two grandsons, Shannon Monroe and wife, Andrea of High Point and Mike Davis and wife, Cindy of Greenville, SC; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Bunn of Wilson; two special nephews, Wayne Gay and Jeff Kennedy, both of Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Davis Davis; son, Donnie R. Davis and a son-in-law, Donnie R. Tart.
The family will receive friends 6 - 7 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home.
