Robert Courtney Obituary
Robert (Bob) Courtney, 72, a 14-year resident of Warrenville, Illinois, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois, to William and Dorothy Courtney (nee Link). Bob graduated from Illinois State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish, then went on to receive a Master's Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University in 1969. After teaching Spanish in Freeport, Illinois, he entered the insurance industry where he remained for the rest of his professional career. Once he retired, his business interest turned to financial investing.
Bridge was his favorite pastime, and during his lifetime he earned the title of Life Master. A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (nee Perry); son, John (Carla) of Davenport, Iowa, and daughter, Michelle (Steve) Felbinger of Bolingbrook, Illinois; grandchildren, Allison and Joseph Courtney and Emily and Nicholas Felbinger; and sister, Maureen (Rodney) Carlson of Campus, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
A private memorial is being planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNS Hospice at 690 E. North Avenue, Carol Stream, Illinois 60188.

Dear Carol and family,
We're so very sorry on your loss. We live a few houses down from you and would see Bob taking his walks around the sub division. He would always say hello with a welcoming smile. We hope that wonderful memories of Bob will comfort you and the family during this time. We will keep you all in our prayers. RIP Bob.
