Michalak Sr., Richard Francis Age 65, passed away in his home on August 1, 2018 surrounded by his family in Orland Park, IL. Visitation Saturday, August 4, 2018, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. and Harlem), Orland Park, IL with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Rick, Dad, Rishárd, or Grandpa Ricky as he was lovingly called, was born in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1952 to Bernard and Julia Michalak. Rick loved golfing, billiards, baggo and softball. He made a hobby of buying a new car every few years (and keeping it spotless). He was a fan of Elvis and Sinatra, and sometimes you would catch him singing Kenny Rogers on the highway. He got a kick out of passing on his excitement for everything (including White Castle) to those around him. Rick was a proud Local 705 Teamster for 35 years, with a flawless driving record. He applied his trade most recently for USF Holland until his retirement in 2010. Beloved father of Rick (Andrea) Michalak, Jr., Brad (Margie) Michalak, Matthew Michalak; cherished grandfather of Ryan, Meghan, Gavin and Kayley; fond brother of Janet (John) Cavanaugh and beloved uncle to nephews Ron Cavanaugh and Mike (Melissa) Cavanaugh.
