My hope is that I continue to embrace my mother's spirit, and truly live my best in her memory. I feel grateful to have had such a loving relationship with my mother. It is the cherished moments in life that become our memories as we age. I share my memories about my mother; it is that connection, which remains close to my heart.
I celebrate my mother's life with many simple pleasures, memories and lessons. I am fortunate to know how to make those famous apples slices without a written recipe. And Karen has the secret to the pecan cups and crescent cookies. My mother so enjoyed her deserts.
I know that it is our mothers who determine who we become because they are not only the life givers, but also the most influential person in our lives, especially as children. Before we are old enough to understand that influence, mothers give us the beginnings of our spirituality, build our character and value systems. She was a healer of many pains and illness as we grew up. She naturally praises accomplishments and ignores all those minor faults within us. She never stops becoming more motherly even in a loving memory. Even in her death she is giving of herself, so that medical students can learn from her and help those who are still living. It is important to remember that my mother gave life with her tenderness and with her love – It stays with all of us forever.
It is difficult to adjust back to the daily routine because after such a loss you are changed forever. .
I hope through my words that they offer a bit of comfort to my family and friends.
Love,

Dorothy Birthday Princess at 85
