I was very late in hearing about John. He was my supervisor at McNeil hospital in the chaplain program in 1980. I will always remember how insightfull and intuitive he was. He is greatly missed and we all held him in high honor. At the end of our training, we all chipped in and bought him a pair of blue jeans. We wanted him to play and enjoy his life.

John Bollinger was my supervisor in the Chaplaincy program of my MDiv in the early 2000s. I remember he said that not everyone came to walk by my side the entire journey of life; like hiking, some people just walk with you for a short while. John was full of grace. He impacted my life with compassion and wisdom. I'm thankful for him.

Dad, I miss you. I have enjoyed planting in your garden where you spent so much time, but I really wish you were her to give me some tips. I miss you every single day and that is the truth. Life does go on, but fortunately not without your guiding voice inside me. I love you Pappy, Paparoo! Mom, you are a really special person. I love you very much. Hugs and some more hugs. XO, Me

Loving memories go back to my early teen years when John and my Aunt Meg met and later married. From that point on, John L. Bollinger was Uncle John to me and to my family. Much later, Uncle John performed our ceremony when Sidney and I married. Throughout the many years to follow, he and Aunt Meg were great role models for us and a treasured part of our family life. I'll always remember Uncle John as one of the great men in my life that I was blessed to have, and to know.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

Meg, John will be sorely missed: such a unique presence in our professional community. Both Helen and I will be with you for the memorial service to help fill out the "picture" and to hold his memory close. Love on ya, Jim Gibbons

Deep condolences to Meg and the family. We have so many wonderful memories of Reverend Bollinger preaching to the congregation at Bethel Church in Roseland. The thought of him always brings a smile to our faces, with his private jokes included in many prayers. Peace be with him always.

Reverend John Billinger was a kind and inspiring man. It was an honor to get to know him while he was at the Village Church of La Grange Park.

On behalf of the congregation at 1st Congregational Church of Lisle, I wish to express our deep regret on the passing of Rev. Bollinger. He was, and will always be, remembered in our hearts and respected as a faithful and compassionate man in the service of God in our church, and much beloved by our whole congregation. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you, Meg, and to your family. May God comfort all of you and bless you.

I was surprised to read John's obit in the paper. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was a pastor in Berwyn for 21 years and enjoyed John's friendship for that entire time. I appreciated his help and insight as I did my pastoral duties. He inspired me to retire at age 62 and take a position as a chaplain in a nursing home and retirement home for seven more years.
Thanks, John, and thanks to your family for sharing you with all of us.
