I was impressed that John's neighbor in E Detroit had an ice rink with colored lines and the Schilling twins (Redwing father) played with us.
John deserved the Best Sport award.

We'll all miss laughing with John.
I respected John for being good and being good-enough in 7-8th grade basketball to play in our rivalry.
From backyard fence jumping in the 60s to vacations in the 80s, John was reliable, fun and makes me feel good thinking of him.
We are fortunate to have experienced John's pleasant presence.

John Currier was such a good good man. He made everyone better, by the experience of knowing him.

I lived with John at the Evans Scholars House in Ann Arbor MI; John & I attended Michigan together. We Evans Scholars were all golf caddies in our younger days, and our pride in that is such, that we still call ourselves "Caddies", to our last. We were picked by the Evans Scholar Program to receive the scholarship, that set us off into the world.

I learned yesterday of John's passing. I learned also, that not surprisingly, John became quite successful in his accounting practice, and that he was liked & loved not just by his wife & family, but also by friends in Michigan & Illinois (as I did briefly in the early 1990's, when I lived in Chicago).

I did just want to tell everyone, though, just how liked -- no, just how loved John Currier was and has been all these years, by one of the toughest audiences in the world; often the most critical, the most sarcastic, and yet the most caring, loving and decent people to be found on a golf course and off. The Caddies.

We Caddies all loved John Currier, and we have for all these years. We thought you should know.

I met John through my friend Pat Garvey and was immediately impressed by his humor, thoughtfulness and kindness. John and I were part of a regular Sunday golf foursome for a number of years at Big Run and he tolerated with good humor my 3-digit scores. We also would occasionally have a get together at John's house for a swim and dinner. He and Denise and Garrett were such great hosts to me and Sarah and Elizabeth (who particularly enjoyed the pool!) - it was always a good time.

I'm going to miss John (as will we all) and Sarah and Elizabeth and I all extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Denise & Garrett as well as to John's extended family and numerous friends - Rest in peace and God bless, Big Guy.

On behalf of the SW Indian Guides Program we would like to send our condolences to Denise and Garrett on John's passing. The thoughts and prayers of our nation go out to them and the entire Currier family during this difficult time. John and Garrett were in our Arapaho tribe and active members for about 5 years. I am sure the time they spent together as father and son on our campouts and other events meant a lot to both. Our motto still applies "Friends Forever" John. May you rest in peace.

Forty three years ago I met John as a freshman at DeLaSalle Collegiate High School in Detroit. We "hung out" a lot in those days, going to high school football games, Tiger games, and parties, and being teenage knuckleheads. We just had fun together. He made me laugh and I made him laugh, and a lasting friendship was born.

While our studies and careers carried us on different paths and geographies, we always stayed in touch. John did a much better job of this than I, as I careened from major to major and school to school early on in my frenetic college experience, and I'm thankful for that. I have several fond memories of weekends in Ann Arbor at the Evans Scholar House, and some phenomenal classic concerts (Springsteen and The Eagles) at Crisler Arena.

John finished his studies at Michigan and advanced through his Tax Masters, while I concurrently (somewhat) finished my BA and Masters at Michigan State (as I said, "different paths"!) And through it all we "kept in touch."

After graduation, he shared an apartment with terrific roommates on Detroit's East Side that was nicknamed the "Wooly Swamp", located near a very entertaining hangout called "Wooly Booly's" and that is all I can say about that!

John discovered his soulmate Denise and they eventually relocated to the Chicago area, coincidentally just a year after I had moved there. Thankfully, John and Denise were gracious and loyal friends to "Bachelor Pat" and we had tremendous times together. I ultimately married Kathy and we all enjoyed many years of good times, watching our sons Garrett and Jack grow to be young men while we grew only somewhat older.

Undeterred by our lack of golf skills, John and I did play the game quite a bit over the years, first at Chandler Park near DeLaSalle, and later in our "Chicago years" at Oak Meadows in Addison, IL, at Pickwick club, and at our annual FYC golf trip in Michigan with our great friends from that group. We've been doing the latter trip for over 25 years now and those guys have been the best of friends. The trip won't be the same without John.

John, you were the best friend anyone could ever have. I'll always miss and love you. God bless you.

I'm very sorry to hear of John's passing. It has been a long time since I last spoke with him. We were Evans Scholars at the University of Michigan in the late 70's. I'll always remember playing B-Ball with him and BK in the caddie parking lot and at the rec centers. He always had a smile on his face and was one of the easiest going guys in the house. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to John's family, wife Denise and his son Garrett. Even though John and me weren't close friends, I remember John with that big smile every time I ran into him at Panera or at a networking event. Sweet man he was to all who came in contact with him.
My Prayers go out to you at this difficult time. I will miss him too. Thank you for the memories big guy!
God Bless!

My husband and I met John 4 years ago when we were interviewing accountants for my husband's medical practice. During the past several years, we have valued his insight, guidance, kind disposition, and professionalism. He was very smart and helped us solve complex issues with ease and quiet confidence. He spoke very lovingly of his family at every meeting we had together. Our prayers are with your family.
