He was a wonderful Uncle to me and his counsel decisively helped me at a difficult and trying time in my life thirty years ago. I loved him greatly and still do. To my great sorrow, I was not able to attend his funeral as I now live in Europe and had used up all my vacation when my Mother recently passed away. It was a difficult year. I miss them both. I am sure they both have their place with the Lord.

I first met John Halasz when I started working as a psychologist at the Institute for Junenile Research in 1956.As the years passed, we became closer. We traveled together in Downstate Illinois to provide services,we worked on many cases together and were on the same team.In addition , I started spending New Year's Eve with John and Marilynn more than twenty years ago.
Throughout the time I have known him, I was very impressed with him as a very warm,,friendly man with many interests and a very competent, concerned psychiatrist where his personality and conscientiousness was admired b y everyone who had dealings with him. In adddition, he was fun to be with, had a delightful sense of humor and oif play and was a wonderful storyteller.
It was wonderful to be aware of the loving relationship he had with Anna and then with Marilynn. Similarly, it was delightful to ob serve the warmth and pleasure he derived from his children and extended family. Clearly these wonderful relatinships qere reciprocated.
What a man! I will miss him very much. My thoughts now also go to Marilynn for she and John had this wonderful , mutually rewarding marriage and hope that she will be able to continue in her strong loving, helpful way that is her style.
