Marion Karl, age 97, of Glenview, died peacefully on April 30, 2016, Marion was born on September 15, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Camille Mistretta and cherished sister of Elaine (Robert) Beaulieu, the late John (Geraldine), Robert (Delores), Joan (Joseph) Pellettiere, and Yvonne (Charles) Plotz; Marion was the loving wife of the late Michael A. Carrera and the late Andrew Karl; beloved mother of Patricia (Paul) Van Wert, Michael (the late Barbara) Carrera, Camille Basak, and the late Jerome (Suzanna) Carrera; caring grandmother of Paul (Bridgette) Calamari, Katherine Carrera, Ann Carrera (David Janossy), Elizabeth Carrera (Charles Dahl), Alexandra Basak (Kane Russell), Judith Carrera, Jerome Carrera, and Stephen Carrera; tender great grandmother to Jake Calamari, Sarah Calamari, Margaret Burke, and Hayes Russell; favored aunt of Cynthia Oliver, Robert Beaulieu, Clifford (Jane) Mistretta, Kathleen Beaulieu (James Peterson), David Beaulieu, Joseph Pellettiere, and John (Georgia) Beaulieu and the late Barbara Mistretta and Julie Pellettiere; stepmother to Mary Kay Karl and JoAnn Gray; fond great aunt to many. Marion was a strong, independent woman, devoted to her faith and family, who greeted everyone she encountered with a warm and gracious smile and taught us to be peaceful in all of life's moments. She will be remembered fondly as a loving, wise, and charitable woman. Visitation Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 4 to 8pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Rd., Glenview. Funeral mass Thursday, May 5 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., Glenview (at Church St.). Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
