Paul was, and is, I would consider my best friend I took it very hard when he left us early I know he´s in a much better place. We went through thick and thin together I wrestled with him for four years at Hinsdale south played football with him we excelled in wrestling I like to work out with him, he was a strong man he had a strong heart I could´ve not asked for a better friend. I lost my best friend but I do know I´ll see him again someday I´ll see that smiling face. I´ll probably see the glisten Office head before I see the smiley face, Paul was a great man a funny man, a great father , a great great friend I know this comes much later than all the other condolences but I came upon his picture and the stories about his life I have some mini funny stories, so I´m not I can´t even tell but that´s OK. He has great kids. He had a great wife , we did many things together. I miss you Maggie I miss your family for a little older now. I don´t know if I´m any wiser I was just lucky to have Paul as a friend him in my life and the lives of so many others that he changed. Thank you Lord for sending him my way And allowing me to spend too short of time with him. It´s hard for me to talk about it without getting so emotional but he is a bright spot in my life to this point see you soon buddy.

Dear Maggie, Paul and Annie,
I was very sad to hear of Paul leaving us. I met him at Illinois State U. when we were undergraduates. When I took the job in Dist. 48 to my surprise the Murphy children attended school in the district. Paul and I were reaquainted and we always shared a laugh and good story. I was so proud of Paul's accomplishments and successes as an educator. He really cared about the "kids" and was thoughtful and caring as a man. I have been priviledged to know him. May your family stay strong in the days ahead. Paul would want only the best for you. Sincerely, Judy Zito

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I could go on and on (as I'm sure everyone can!) about how much Paul touched my life. I learned so much about being a great teacher from him, and will forever be greatful to him for giving me a chance and always believing in me. My prayers are with his family whom I know he held dear to his heart.

I am saddened to hear of Paul's death. He was a football teammate of mine for 4 years at Hinsdale South High School. Murph was a fierce competitor during the game but a teddy bear off the field. Paul never had a bad word to say about anyone, and always had a smile on his face. Playing defense next to Paul was especially fun when we had to tap him on the helmet to pass along "motivational phrases and words of encouragement" shouted to us by coaches on the sidelines. Paul's replies were usually classic. Hornet football players will never forget the words, "Kick Murphy" ! Paul was the original Fridge Perry when our Coaches invented Shock Troops and installed Paul as an occasional blocking back who would sometimes carry the ball! Watching him run with the football left us in stitches but he was so serious. He will be missed.

Paul was a great neighbor and a good friend. More than that, he was a part of our family for over 23 years. Dad loved Paul as much as Paul loved my dad and I'm sure Dad was waiting for Paul when he crossed over. Together, they will keep an eye on both our families. Paul's warmth and caring will be missed. Love to you Maggie, PJ, and Annie.
