Dear Jeri and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Pete was the kindest and most sincere individual I have ever met. As a kid growing up I was fortunate to spend as much time with the Carey family as I did my own. The Careys were a second family to me. He was such a good man and I am a better person for having known him and the entire Carey family. God bless.

Just heard about Mr. Carey's passing and wanted to express my personal condolences. He was such a nice man and role model to me. Always had a kind word yet could be tough when he needed to be. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, with special thoughts to Brad, Neil, and Chuck. May he rest in peace and may the Lord give you strength through your grief. I feel so blessed that God allowed your dad to be a part of my life.

My heart and prayers go out to all my Carey cousins. Pete really cared about all the people he had any contact with. He was always ready to help others. He was extraordinarily kind and always made me and everyone feel welcomed, included, and valued.

Dear Jeri, You probably don't remember me as I haven't seen you or Pete in at least 50 years. Your brother, Richard, was a very good friend of mine as well as a representative for my legal matters. Pete was a great guy as well as a Fenwick Friar. Last week I received a notice that Irv Bergquist celebrated his 100th birthday in Florida. I believe that he and Peter worked together many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Carey family during this difficult time. May God Bless you all.

I knew Pete through my parents (Larry & Nancy Maloney). I would see him at parties or church, but it wasn't very frequent. I loved seeing him. He is incredibly warm and interested in what was happening in everyone's lives. I last saw him at my niece's graduation from Fenwick since one of his grandson's was also graduating. My dad saw him from a distance & approximately 30 people heard my dad yell out to him because he was so excited to see him & Jeri. It was very short since everyone was filing into the graduation, but it was really great to see him. Even on your best day, you felt even a bit better after seeing him. That is an amazing legacy to leave in the world. The Maloney family will be thinking of you & in our prayers.

Neil and Brother Charles ( and the rest of the Carey Family)

I was sorry to see the notice of your fathers passing. I recall how excited Neil would be when "Pete and Jeri" would be coming to C/U for a visit. And after the first time I met Mr. Carey I understood why. My best to you all during this time. Dor

I had the pleasure of being mentored for more than a decade by one of the best men I believe the world has have ever known, Peter Noth Carey. He lived a life where he demonstrated to me so much more than words can explain about the skill of our craft, about the way to treat others in professional environments, about the way to lead a team, about the way to treat others in general, about being genuine, real, caring, loving, and above all to me he was a deeply treasured friend. His true love in life was his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his friends, and his coworkers. Never a bad word to say about anyone, always a few words of encouragement, always the gentlemen. He lived as his religious beliefs asked him to, he never stopped reaching out and caring for everyone else, and to say he'll be incredibly missed is one of the great understatements. God Bless Peter N. Carey, and all of the Carey Family.

Uncle Pete was, hands down, one of the most genuine, sincere, and nicest person I have ever had the pleasure to know. I ALWAYS enjoyed spending time with for well over 40 years. A huge influence in my life and someone who will be sorely missed by our entire family, Fenwick High School, and his many, many friends. His integrity and actions spoke so loud, I could hardly hear what he was saying. Last but certainly not least, Uncle Pete was always ... "Damn glad to meet you!". God speed and may be rest in peace, as heave greets its newest angel.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. Carey several, but not enough, times. He was a man of great wit and warmth, and seeing and talking with him was an occasion that never failed to make my day. He had nothing but good things to say about people and showed genuine interest in what people had to say, even if, as in my case, those people may have had too much to say. The highlight of the annual Carey family White Sox parties for me was getting to spend some time with Mr. Carey and getting his insights on the White Sox, on Chicago, and on life. I just wish I had spent more time with him.

It is said that the only enduring legacy we leave in life is our children. By that measure, Mr. Carey has left the world far richer than he found it. I’ve known and thoroughly enjoyed the friendship of Neil since we were in college together many years ago, and through Neil I have met the other Carey kids. They have all made their parents proud. While they are grieving now, I am sure that they are all filled with immeasurable gratitude for having had such a great Dad.

God bless and keep all of you. Take care of your mom and continue to thank God for having given you such a wonderful father.
