William Scott Sullivan

1969 - 2017

William Scott Sullivan, 47, transformed from this life to the life everlasting on Friday, October 27, 2017 after a sudden heart attack. A beloved and highly revered soul by his family and many friends, Scott was born December 17, 1969 in Tupelo to Dan Sullivan and Jewel Nicholson Sullivan. He attended public schools in Okolona and graduated from Okolona High School in l988 where he was "everybody's brother" and an outgoing personality. He attended Mississippi State University where he studied political science and endeared himself to many new friends. He was an avid and rabid Mississippi State supporter and fan-"Hail Dear Ole State". Scott worked with his father at DS&J Trucking for many years. Scott had a caregiver's spirit and was privileged to take care of Senator Jack Gordon during his illness and, later, his wife, Martha, until her death. He had worked the last several years as a valued associate at Bud Coley Trucking in Tupelo where he was a dispatcher and bookkeeper. Scott loved living his life every day. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his family, friends and dogs- especially those in the small Chickasaw Co. community known as "Shakerag.", where he lived most of his life. He was a longtime member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church of Okolona. His family and a wide circle of friends will sorely miss this giant. remarkable man.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Randy Lewman officiating. His special friend, Natalie Gordon Rutledge will deliver the eulogy. A graveside service will follow in the Sullivan Family Plot at Boone's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30-8 PM today and from 10 AM-service time Tuesday, all at Holland-Okolona Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.

Scott leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Dan and Jewel; his grandfather, Wilburn Russell, One brother, Danny Sullivan (Candy), Two Sisters, Cindi Fryfogle and Honey Rodgers (Wade). His nieces, Sadie Melton (Kit), Nikki Farris (Matthew), Sloan Simmons (John)., Stormy Downey (Todd), Tuesday Jones( Jeffrey). His nephews, Shaw Sullivan, John Daniel Rodgers, Trey Fryfogle (Britanny), Matt Fryfogle (Brittany), Cory Fryfogle, Aaron Nichols (Tara); His adored Aunt, Kathy Hicks and her children, Drew Hicks (Brittany), Amy Warren (Derrick), his best friend, Justin Inskeep and his beloved pets, Sasha, Claire and Kipper Ridge and all of his precious "Greats". He was preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents and his nephew Bo Fryfogle

Pallbearers will be Shawn Beard, Jimbo Corley, Anthony Corley, Jonathan Carter, Kevin Cissom, Jonathan Cissom, Heath Sullivan and Greg Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Farris and Bud and Bob Coley and all his associates at Bud Coley Trucking.
