Ester Marie Sabin

1931 - 2014

ESTHER MARIE SABIN Esther Marie Sabin passed away June 12, 2014. She was born March 14, 1931 in Orland. A lifetime resident, she attended Orland schools and graduated Orland High School in 1948. She graduated from Chico State College with honors in 1964. She taught at Hamilton City Elementary school for 23 years in a profession she loved. After her retirement, she loved to travel and went on many cruises. She fulfilled her promise to her grandchildren to take each of them on a trip upon graduation from high school. Esther was active in the California Teacher's Association. She also loved softball and played and coached. She was a member of the 1961 Orland Championship team of the Sacramento Valley Girls Softball League. She was a huge 49er and Giants fan. Her children laid her to rest in her 49er shirt. Esther was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Sue Vonasek, and brothers Raymond, R.G., and Ernest. Esther leaves behind her son Greg (Linda Varner) of Delhi, CA, and daughters: Pamela (Peter) Deacon of Red Bluff, and Marcia Holder (Lonnie Hart) of Orland. Twelve grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, no services will be held. However, family and friends will meet for a celebration of her life on June 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at her daughter Marcia's home. She will be laid to rest with her parents in the Catholic Cemetery in Orland. She was loved and touched many people's lives. Contributions can be made to Butte County Hospice. F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary of Orland is handling all arrangements.
