Elaine Rohde, age 95, formerly of Menomonie and Hatchville, and most recently of Roseville, Minn., died peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at her residence at the Eagle Crest Arbor Memory Care Facility in Roseville.
Elaine was born May 3, 1910, in the town of New Hope to Jonas and Pauline (Hoyard) Roe. After graduating from the Stevens Point Normal School, she taught for several years in Waupaca County before marrying Fred Rohde on Oct. 28, 1935, in Nelsonville. Together, they owned and operated the Hatchville Cheese Factory west of Menomonie from 1935 until retiring in 1970.
Elaine was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie for many years. Prior to that, she had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hatchville.
Elaine will be long-remembered for her graciousness. She loved entertaining, socializing with others, listening to music, and playing cards. She was also known as a consummate practical joker, to which her closest friends could personally attest if they were with us today.
Elaine is survived by her son, Bill, and wife Judy of New Brighton, Minn.; her granddaughter, Jill (Thomas) Dambrine of New Brighton; great-granddaughter, Li An Dambrine; and many relatives and friends.
Preceding Elaine in death were her husband, her parents, three brothers and eight sisters.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
