Marcus "Mark" Matthews Jr.

Marcus "Mark" Matthews, Jr., age 87 of Marion passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022 at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, Marion, Indiana.

Mark was born March 13, 1935, in Evansville, Indiana the son of Marcus Matthews, Sr. and Lilly (Lake) Matthews. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mark was the owner of Mark's Auto Sales and prior to that he had been the used car lot manager for Howard Chrysler Plymouth in Marion. He was a member of the Amvets, the American Legion Post 5 and American Legion Post 10. Mark also played in a band called The Black Knights in the 60's at the Paramount Theatre and Labor Temple both in Marion, and at many other locations.

He is survived by his daughter, Demaris Matthews; a brother, Drexel Matthews; sisters, Patty Matthews, Christine Coppage and Phyllis McMahan; three grandchildren, Whitney (Jonah) Brown, Kylie (Michael) Charlton and Corey Matthews; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow funeral services at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana at 1:00 p.m.
