Gail A. Miller (70) of Inverness, Florida was born August 4, 1944 in rural Harrison, Michigan. She was the next to the youngest of six children born to Hobert L. and Goldie E. (Bailey) Beavers. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Farwell High School in 1961. She received her RN degree from the Independence Sanitarium School of Nursing, Independence, Missouri, in 1964. After graduation she went to Honduras for over a year and worked in a clinic there. She married and had a beautiful boy, Kevin. He was the light of her life.
Gail dedicated her life to providing excellent care as a nurse. She spent many months in Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Germany, and Israel. She even offered her services on a medical mission boat on the Amazon River. Gail married Terry Allen Miller October 5, 1996 on beautiful Kure Beach in Wilmington, North Carolina. Family and friends were present as her son, Kevin, sang expressing the awesome love Terry and Gail have for each other. Many of her years of nursing were as an emergency nurse in several inner city trauma centers. In her later career she provided care in home health nursing and retired as a Residential Nurse for the Key Training Center in Lecanto, Florida. Gail loved opera, Latin American culture, and ice cream. She was also a master prankster, loved Halloween, and was a loyal Tampa Bay Rays fan.
She is survived by her husband, Terry A. Miller, of Inverness, her grandson, Christopher B. Coward of Inverness, T. Allen Miller (Susan) Jacksonville, Florida and Christopher P. Miller (Cathy) Wilmington, N.C. She is also survived by a sister, Dellamae Mitchell, brother H. Dale (Marjorie) Beavers, sister Melba Jean Dixon, brother Dee Beavers, and brother Dean (Mary) Beavers all of Michigan, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Jon Coward and wife, Carolyn Varela
Coward, also brother-in-laws Everett Mitchell and Vern Dixon, and sister-in-law Gloria Beavers.
Some of Gail's happiest days were spent on a beach reading a book, fishing or sightseeing in a boat. She also loved to travel and visit historic sites. Gail was a Christian by faith and seen as an "Angel sent by God" by most of those that new her. She is now in heaven with her son and his wife smiling down on us.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life will be held at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Home on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM. followed by visitation for friends at Fort Cooper State Park 3100 Old Floral City Road, Inverness from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
