It's always nice to be remembered. Sometimes we look back at our memories of someone and they can be tainted by hurt feelings or a bad chapter in your life, or theirs. But, In Jack's case, all my memories are of a man who was a loving father and an understanding guy.
In one of my "not so favorite" moments years ago, I remember him pulling me aside and saying, "Mike, you're the coolest guy I know. Take a breath and remember who you are. No matter what happens, you're going to be OK." He never switched sides on the issue but, he took a moment out to remind me that he could "see me". I think I felt invisible (metaphorically) so, that was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment. It was such a thoughtful gift from a great man.
This time of year, I always remember when my mom was dying, she once said to me, "Can you imagine how beautiful Christmas must be heaven?". She, my Dad and now, Jack actually know. Merry Christmas Carol, Steve, Kim, Janine and Michael.

Janine, Kim, Michael & Steve;
I'm so sorry for you loss. Jack was always good to me and I considered him a friend. He was a great man and I'm sorry that I just heard of his passing. Had I known, I certainly would have been there for his service. It's never a good time to lose a parent but, be thankful for all the years you had with him. I'll always regret not stopping by to see him. I've learned a lesson today. I plan to let people know NOW, what they mean or have meant to me before it's too late. My sincere condolences.
