Beulah Morgan Obituary

Beulah Azlee

Allison Morgan

HENDERSONVILLE - Beulah Azlee Allison Morgan went peacefully to meet her loved ones and her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 14, 2012 at the Elizabeth House. Beulah was born to the late Martin E. Allison and Fannie Lance Allison on January 6, 1912, in Haywood County, North Carolina. Beulah was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Raynel Lee Morgan; three sisters, Leah McCall, Floy Moffitt and Velma Allison; a brother, Roy Allison; a son, Otis Martin (Marty) Morgan; and a granddaughter, Brooke Carpenter. She celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family just last Saturday with a Proclamation from the Mayor of Hendersonville proclaiming her birthday as "Beulah Morgan Day."

Beulah graduated from Etowah High School in 1931 where she played basketball and was president of her senior class. The Etowah Squaws were county basketball champions for three years in a row. After her marriage to Raynel L. "Kinky" Morgan on October 8, 1932, she moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Beulah led a very active life. She served as a grade mother at Rosa Edwards Elementary School in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's which included chaperoning class trips to Raleigh and Washington, D.C. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher for 35 years at Grace Baptist Church. She was a Girl Scout leader in the 1960's, director of the Teenage Canteen for more than five years and the Chief Precinct Judge at the Whitmire Center for many years. Beulah enjoyed meeting people and sharing her faith in Jesus Christ with everyone she met. She loved her family dearly and was affectionately referred to as "Mammaw" by her family and friends of the family. Many considered her their "second mom."

Beulah had a passion for working outdoors in her gardens. She also loved to read and learn. She loved the snow and opened her house at the bottom of "Whitted Hill" for all the sledders who needed to warm their hands or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

Beulah was a devout Christian and attended Valley Hill Baptist Church.

Beulah is survived by a sister, Ruth Beddingfield Vaughn, of Fletcher, NC; a son, Joel Ray Morgan and his wife, Kathy Streeter Morgan of Hendersonville, NC; a daughter, Sandra Gail Morgan Carpenter and her husband, William W. Carpenter, Jr. of Hendersonville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Morgan of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren: Malcolm Morgan and his wife, Marissa of Weaverville, NC, Christopher Morgan and his wife, Sonya of Burnsville, NC, Candi Morgan Mizell and her husband Bobby of Harrisburg, NC, William Maxwell Carpenter and his wife, Carey of Raleigh, Windee Carpenter Robinson and her husband, Steve of Nashville, TN, Matthew E. She is also survived by ten great grand children: Max Morgan, Bradley Mizell, Morgan Mizell, Graham Morgan, Madison Morgan, Will Carpenter, Whitney Carpenter, Olivia Robinson, Mark Robinson and Jack Robinson. In addition to these, she is survived by numerous nieces, cousins and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pardee Hospital and The Elizabeth House for their compassion and tender care of Beulah during her stay with them.
