Spartanburg, SC - Montrose S. Roberts, age 93, passed away at Eden Terrace Assisted Living on Monday, March 25, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Roberts with whom she had a 67-year marriage. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Roberts of Arlington, VA, a son, Harold (Hal) S. Roberts and daughter - in - law, Rosemary Moody Roberts of Spartanburg, SC. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, W.L. and Margaret Simmons, as well as two brothers, W.L. Simmons, Jr. and George M. Simmons. She was a graduate of Asheville Teacher's College, a member of Who's Who in American Colleges, and was a teacher at Pine Street Elementary School in Spartanburg, SC and Ira B. Jones Elementary School in Asheville, NC. She participated in Delta Kappa Gamma teacher's sorority and was a member of the NC Education Association. She was a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC and Asheville, NC. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her joy, energy and faith-centered life. The family gratefully acknowledges the care provided by the staff at Eden Terrace.

A graveside service will be held at Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville, NC, on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Reverends William (Bill) C. Adams and Sal Barone of First Baptist Church in Spartanburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Mobile Meals, 419 E.
