Dale Lee Kocher, 89, of Edwardsville, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2020 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
He would have been 90 on Jan. 2, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was born in Meeker on Jan. 2, 1931, and was raised in the Ruggles section of Harveys Lake; and was the son of the late A. Rodell and Mable Hunter Kocher.
Dale was employed as an independent over the road truck driver for 45 years, and had resided in Beaumont from 1973 until 2016, before moving to Edwardsville to be closer to his daughter, Rosemary.
He entered into the United States Army at the young age of 17, where he served for eight years in the U.S. Constabulary in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Dale was a member of the Benton VFW Post 8317.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Kocher; brothers, Derwood, Glen, Eugene and Kenneth Kocher; and sisters, Meryl Wagner; Audrey Stogoski; Doris Smith; and Dolores Kocher.
He is survived by daughters, Rosemary Standarowski, Edwardsville; Virginia Barba, Landsdale; and Janine Cobb, Plymouth; stepsons, Eugene Schooley, Kunkle; and Daniel Schooley, Plains; stepdaughters, Doreen Hunter, Dallas; Brenda Younglood, Jenkins Twp.; and Nancy Ann Schooley, Beaumont; and eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek. A private funeral service will follow with Rick Womer, pastor of Tunkhannock Assembly of God, officiating. Masks and social distancing will be enforced in order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions.
Private interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek.
