Edward Malta Obituary
Born Oct. 5, 1923 In Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Hebeb and Bahia Amuney Malta, and a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1941.
He formerly worked at Hazard Wire Rope and prior to retirement at Bridon America for over 47 years.
Turk was a member of St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre, and active in their choir. His biggest enjoyment was his family and especially his grandchildren.
He and his wife the former Peggy Saba celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary Aug. 24, 2014.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Bonnie and her husband, Joe Wharton, Mountain Top; John and his wife, Linda Malta, Mountain Top; Lisa and her husband, Marty Conway, Shavertown; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Philip Malta, Mountain Top; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Patti Malta; sister, Kate Hanneye; brothers, Jacob, Michael and John Malta. The family would like to give thanks to the staff of Little Flower Manor Nursing Center Wilkes-Barre, and the staff of the Cancer Center Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with services in St. Mary's A.O. Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Parrish Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Those who desire may give memorial contributions to St. Mary's A.O. Church, 905 S. Mains St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

Peg and family, Mom, (Kathryn Malta Hoffman) and myself often walked from Lee Park to your home on a Friday evenings. We felt so welcomed and enjoyed every visit with you and Peg. I still can visualize Patti sitting on her chair in the kitchen with sparkle in her eyes and smile that your whole family has. Bonnie and I would do girl things and John was busy with instant coffee on the living room carpet. Our visits were not as often when Lisa was born. I was a teenager and at that age I was doing things with my friends. Ed always listened to the hens, but also added some of his insight to the conversation. We will remember you with that smile and that will warm our hearts with sweet remembrances'.
Ed you were a wonderful, kind and a "gentle" man. The love your children shows the man you were. Peg took care of everyone. Now it's time, Peg, for your family to take care of you. May the love of your children, grand children and great grand children and friends give you and your family the strength to go through this darkness now and into the light of Jesus our savior knowing your husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa is at peace.
