Jennie R. Simko, of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at Kingston Health Care where she had been a guest.
Born in July of 1925, Jennie was the daughter of the late John and Dominica Mascelli.
She was a 1943 graduate of Plains High School. She was employed by J.B. Carroll and later Flory Fashions and Carmen Dress Company as a seamstress for 50 years. Jennie loved to play bingo, and enjoyed cooking and made all of her own pasta. Jennie was a very hard worker and never missed a day of work.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Simko; grandson, Christian Simko; brothers, Enrico, Felix, Ray, Joe and Guerino; and sisters, Emily, Rita, Katherine, Elizabeth and Frances.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Janet Chipego (Robert); sons, Frank Simko (Leslie); Joseph Simko (Sheila Mooney); daughter-in-law, Anita Simko; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Galasso and staff, Ann Marie, her caregiver and friend, and the staff at Kingston Health Care, especially Jen, Carol and Renee.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hughes Street, Swoyersville. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
