Joseph Louis Roman, 92, a lifelong resident of Pittston, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Known by his close friends as "Joe," he was born in Pittston, January 8, 1930, to the late Frank and Carmella Dominick Roman.
Joseph was a graduate of Pittston High School. He then went on to attend Wilkes-Barre Business School.
Joe started his professional career at the age of 14 where he drove taxi for his families business, Roman Taxi. Later in life, Joe became a banker. After retiring from the banking industry he started Roman's News Stand, Luzerne, which he ran until the late 1990s.
Joseph was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Pittston, and he was also a member of the Hughestown Sportsman's Club.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria McLean; and brothers Rocco, Carl, Peter, Frank and Louis Roman.
Surviving are his niece, Mary Ellen McLean, with whom he resided in the family homestead with for almost 60 years; beloved sister-in-law, Jeanne Roman, Pittston; along with numerous nieces and nephews spread across the country.
Funeral services were entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Twp.
Calling hours will be held from Corpus Christi Parish, Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. from Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston.
Interment will be held at the family's convenience.

Mr. Roman was a wonderful man. We were neighbors for many years, and a kinder man there never was what what my mother said about him. May be RIP.
