Raymond Souder Obituary
Born March 26, 1937, in Larksville, he was the son of the late Raymond and Madeline Brennan Souder.
He was a graduate of Larksville High School, Class of 1954, and a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth.
After his graduation from high school, Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served honorably for 26 years during the Vietnam era until his retirement as a senior master sergeant in 1979.
Raymond then became a teacher of electrical engineering at LCCC, Procter & Gamble, Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School and Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus.
Raymond had been a member of American Legion Post 350 of Nanticoke and a treasurer of the retired military, Kingston. He was very active at the VA Medical Center as a volunteer and also volunteered for the community with hospice programs and Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Robert, John, Margaret (Peggy), Patricia (Pat), Madeline (Sissy) and Maryann.
Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, the former Celia Czuba; children, Carol Souder, Edwardsville; Raymond Souder, San Antonio, Texas; David Souder, Ruidoso, N.M.; and Roy Souder, Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Christina Souder, Ray Souder, Amy Sillman and Ashley Souder; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Crane, Auron Jones and Robby Sillman; brother, Alber Souder; sisters, Clara and Ruth Ann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, from S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth.
Interment with a military service will be in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, or to the charity of the donor's choice, in Raymond's memory.
