Marvin Conner Obituary

Funeral services for Marvin Dean Conner, 77, Lawrence, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary- Eudora Chapel. Burial will follow in the Reno Cemetery. He died June 21, 2006 at the Eudora Nursing Center. Marvin was born February 28, 1929 in Cherokee, Kansas to Clem C. and Gladys (Rhinehart) Conner. He graduated Crawford Community High School in 1946. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union for 59 years where he served as treasurer; was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; and also a long time Reno Township board member. He was instrumental in establishing the Reno Fire Department. He liked baseball, to watch and play; he bowled, pitched horseshoes, played pool, golf, and pitch. He enjoyed winters in South Texas. He was married to Melba L. Moody on August 27, 1949 in Cherokee, Kansas. She survives of the home. He is survived by two sons, Richard D. Conner and wife, Diane of Leawood, KS and Jeffrey R. Conner and wife, Victoria of Seneca, KS; two grandsons, Briar and Clay Conner; many nieces and nephews. A grandson, Ryan and a sister, Erma Payne, preceded him in death. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2006 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary-Eudora Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected] Subject: CONNER.
