JOHN "DOC" MAYNARD HAGEN
June 16, 1949 ~ April 27, 2015

John Maynard Hagen, 65, passed away on April 27, 2015. He was born on June 16, 1949, in Fargo ND, to John Franklin Hagen and Geraldine Hagen. He grew up in Spokane, WA along with his brothers James, Lance, and Chris Hagen.

He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in December of 1974. Not long after starting his chiropractic career working under his father in Spokane, he moved to Vancouver, WA where he cared for thousands of patients over the last 37 years. His clinic on Hazel Dell Avenue continues this care for his many patients.

Dr. Hagen, affectionately known as simply "Doc," will be remembered as a warm and generous father and friend. A talented chiropractor who was always ready to share a story or laugh, he touched and improved a lot of lives throughout his own. His smile and good humor is already missed by those who knew him well.

Doc is survived by his two children, Jason and Stephanie Hagen; his two step-children, Shelley Serface and Julie Salmon; his two grand-children, Addison and Landon; and his three step-grandchildren, Alec, Nick, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Lance Hagen; as well as his parents, John Sr. and Geraldine.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 3p.m. at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 NE Greenwood Dr., Vancouver, WA 98662. A reception will immediately follow.

Memorial donations in memory of John "Doc" Hagen may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust. (www.dav.org)

John was a great friend to my late husband and me. Many evenings were spent on the front porch of the log cabin partaking in a beverage. My fondest memory was of John and us at an event. He would give me the high sign and we would make for the nearest exit where we would smoke his pricey cigs' like two kids behind the barn. You will be in great company up there John. Annie Powers

I have known John since he first came to Vancouver. At one point we were even roommates. John was always willing to help anyone that he could possibly help. Dr. Hagen treated me since I was 12 years old, and he was the best. He helped me so many times I can't begin to count. John was a phenomenal person, caregiver, and confidant. He will be missed beyond measure. Condolences to his family as well as staff. Terrible loss to us all.
