Ethel Leone Tuttle Morrow was the third child born to Jerome Alonzo Tuttle and Mary Florence Flint Tuttle on May 5, 1910, at Palmer. As a young girl she received her elementary education in the Palmer area until the family moved to Amity, in northwest Greeley County. Ethel then attended school at Scotia, completing the 10th grade.
On Oct. 12, 1926, she was united in marriage to Glen Goldman Morrow at Ord. The couple made their first home at the Sugar Ranch north of Scotia. To this union, five children were born - Gene, Betty, Elsie, Ruby and Ernie. Ethel was a loyal helpmate to her husband, Glen, working side by side, always trying to improve their farming and cattle operation. They both took special interest in being good stewards by planting thousands of trees for windbreaks on the land that they loved. The couple semi-retired but continued to farm and ranch after moving into Scotia in 1970. Glen passed away on July 2, 1991. Ethel remained in her home until she moved to Matelyn Retirement Community in the summer of 2002.
Ethel enjoyed being outside in her garden and tending to her flowers. She did lots of canning of fruits and vegetables and was well known for her jelly and sweet pickles which she kindly shared with family and friends. Ethel was a very creative person and would tackle the latest craft idea with enthusiasm, but her favorite project of all was to work with beads, making and giving hundreds of beaded necklaces away. She was a member of the BFFD Craft Club in Scotia for many years.
Other hobbies included playing cards and bingo and attending the community social times in Scotia and the surrounding communities. She was a big Chicago Cubs fan, but her favorite sport was bowling, belonging to two bowling leagues - one league in Ord and the other in St. Paul - until her health would no longer permit her to participate.
Her family was of the utmost importance to her. She always looked forward to family visits, and no matter how large the group, Ethel took a special interest in making everyone feel special. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by many whose lives she touched.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene (Helen) Morrow and Ernie (Stella) Morrow, all of Scotia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty (Richard) Acker of Scotia, Elsie (Wendell) Ita of Bellwood, and Ruby (Roger) Davis of St. Paul; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Tuttle of LaVern, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen; three brothers, Theodore, Ralph and Emery Tuttle; two sisters, Blanche Earl and Letha Gibson; and two granddaughters, Suzette and Tracy Morrow.
Memorials are suggested to local Scotia churches and the Cotesfield United Methodist Church.
