Jerald Porter Obituary
Jerald Compton Porter, 70, passed away at his home on September 12, 2016. He was born to Sylvan and Jeneice Porter on August 6, 1946. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1964 and married Tonya (Edwards) on December 28, 1968.
Jerry started Porters Welding in Hamilton City in 1971 and, in 1992, moved the business to Orland where all three of his children became involved in the business. He enjoyed working on tractors, old engines, cars and trucks. He was a charter member of the American Truck Historical Society Nor-Cal Chapter and enjoyed hosting a truck show every year.
He is survived by his wife Tonya, sisters Arlene Tarleton and Jean Cox, sons Anthony (Hilary) and Samuel (Jennifer), daughter Elizabeth and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 24th at 10 a.m. at Porters Welding, 7061 Co Rd. 24, Orland.
Donations can be made to the Glenn County Scholarship Foundation, Porter Memorial, benefiting Glenn County students pursuing a trade career.

Tonya, I'm so sorry to hear about Jerry. Some of my best teenage memories were hanging out with Jerry building cars, boats,etc. He was more a big brother than the guy next door. I really appreciated him.

Our sincere condolences for the loss of Jerry. We remember well his kindness and generosity as we passed through several years ago. Our visit was quick but memorable as we met new family members and viewed his collection of trucks. It was a wonderful 'connection' with relatives only previously heard of. I hope that in this time of grieving you know that you will have the support of all your friends and family, both old and new.
