Freddie "Fred" DeWane Lorenz, age 85, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at his home in Harkeys Valley. He was born October 15, 1938, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to the late Alex Lorenz and Minnie Dobrinski Lorenz.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Evelyn Bredel, Norlyn Lietzke, Robert Lorenz and Ruth Jindra.
Fred and Ruth met in Ft. Smith while Fred was stationed there with the military; they married and moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma later that year, where he worked for almost ten years- all that time wanting to be farming. In 1972 they moved to Dardanelle, Arkansas to a farm where they have lived to the present time.
Fred loved being a farmer, raising cattle and maintaining the farm. He took pride in anything he did on the farm and never complained about any of the work involved. The only thing on this earth that was more important to him was his family, and they all knew that.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Lorenz of Dardanelle; two children, Maridee Hargus (Coyt) of Dardanelle, Brent Lorenz (Denise) of Dardanelle; one sister Ramona Jameson; four grandchildren, Chandra McFarland, Dreux Hargus, Dalton Lorenz, Danielle Lorenz and five great grandchildren, Atalie, Finley and Lylah McFarland and Avery and Lenni Lorenz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023, at Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Jared Higginbotham officiating. Burial will be private in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle.
Pallbearers will be Brent Lorenz, Dalton Lorenz, Dreux Hargus, Coyt Hargus, Mike McFarland and James Kauffman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Christy and Ray Griffin.
