Alan Paris Obituary

October 9 2002 of Pennsauken NJ. Father of Dani Michelle (John) Merlino and Kenneth (June) Paris. Grandfather of Rian A. Kaiser Roy V. Kaiser Rain B. Kaiser Taylor P. Merlino and Aubrey Rose Paris.
Alan was born in Brooklyn NY to William & Rebecca Paris. He excelled scholastically at Stuyvesant High School in NY Polytechnic Institute of NY Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his PhD in Applied Economics in 1964. Over his 22 year career at RCA he worked as an Engineer; Communications System Manager; Director of Aerospace Systems and Corporate Director of Broadband Information Systems. He developed the first transistor amplifier TV monitor and power supply. An Electronic R & D engineer in the U.S. Army Scientific and Professional Mr. Paris was designated Director of Engineering of the first Air Defense System installed at Ft. Meade MD.
He rejoined RCA after the Korean War and was assigned to assist the USAF on SAGE and its data communication protocols. He was the Consultant to the Japanese Self Defense Force the Diet and industrial firms on the BADGE defense system. He started the Space Systems communications effort by working in Gemini with McDonnell Aviation. He worked with practically all major aerospace firms on a variety of programs including the conceptualization of AWACS for the Air Force. From 1969 until 1972 he directed cable television microwave relay efforts in RCA's Rockefeller Center and the David Sarnoff Research Labs.
In 1972 he joined Mathematica Inc. and participated as Director of Engineering and Applied Economics. His studies for the Nixon Cabinet led to the formation of his own firm Innovative Systems Research Inc. This firm's customers included NSF SBA EPA Library of Congress DOD State of N.J. and private sector firms. He is also retired from GTE and consulted at Raytheon and Lockheed Martin on new sattelite systems such as the Aeronautical Communications Network and ASTROLINK.

Where funeral services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Crescent Burial Park in Pennsauken NJ.
The family will return to the home of Dani & John Merlino and respectfully request contributions in his memory be made to the American Cancer Society 1851 Old Cuthbert Road Cherry Hill NJ 08034
