Mitchel Lucas Obituary
AGE: 53 • Medford
Mitchel Todd Lucas, of Medford, New Jersey, cherished father and coach, passed away suddenly at his home. He was 53.
Born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, February 2, 1962, Mitch was preceded in death by his loving mother Laura, grandmother Martha and uncles John Lucas and Clayton Eckman. He is survived by his devoted sons, Austin Mitchel and Dillon Ridge.
Mitch is the treasured son of Harvey Lucas, Pemberton NJ, son-in-law of Barbara Anderson and nephew of MaryAnn Eckman, Pat Cliver, and Karen Lucas. Beloved brother of Michael & Wendy Lucas, Layfayette, LA , MaryAnn & David Brown, Southampton, NJ. Adored uncle to Tyler, Amanda, Torin, Laura, Joshua and Lucas, great-uncle to Wyatt, Andrew, Felicity & Kinley and many extended cousins and family.
Mitch was an incredibly talented athlete as both a wrestler and football player at Pemberton High School. He continued his football career as a four year starter at Liberty University. After graduation, he had an established career as a Teacher and Athletic Director within the Pemberton Twp. Board of Education. His knowledge was shared with an open heart to countless student-athletes as both coach and friend. With awards too voluminous to mention… his proudest achievement are his sons.
Whether wearing a mischievous grin or scowl of determination on the field or wrestling mat, his good heartedness burst through even that massive chest of his. He was a father, son, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, teammate, coach and friend…. who was bigger than life and who now lives eternally with his Heavenly Father as he is laid to rest with his mother.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at Perinchief Chapels Funeral Home, 438 High St., Mt. Holly, NJ. A memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 4:00pm, at First Baptist Church of Pemberton, 59 Hanover Street, Pemberton, NJ. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the name of Mitchel T. Lucas to the Pemberton Twp. High School Scholarship Fund, to maintain Coach Lucas' outreach and fellowship with his student-athletes. www.perinchief.com.
