Gloria (Cravens) Simmons, 86, of Evansville, passed away at 5:45 pm, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Gloria was born August 26, 1926 in Owensboro, KY to John Bennett and Mary Elizabeth (Baird) Cravens. She was a tax analyst and worked at American General Finance for 40 years. Gloria was a past president of the American Business Women's Association. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 43 years, where she served as Worship Chairman and on the Trustee Committee, as well as volunteering for Vacation Bible School and the Soup Kitchen. Gloria was a loving wife and a special aunt.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Robert "Bob" Simmons of Evansville; sister-in-law, Margaret Cravens of Evansville; 4 nephews, Jeff, Greg, John and Tom Cravens and several great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Earl Cravens; niece, Rita Douglas and great-nephew, Jacen Beck.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Jack Scott officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 10 am until 1 pm, service time, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
