June Dolores French

Evansville, Ind.

June Dolores (Cook) (Kraft) French, formerly of Evansville, passed away peacefully at her home in Aledo, Ill., on Oct 13, 2017, at the age of 100 with her family at her side.

June was born in Evansville, Ind., on Dec 15, 1916, to Louis and Clara Cook. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1934, married Eugene Kraft, in 1940, with whom she had four children. After Eugene's passing in 1959, she married John (Val) French in 1960. Over her long career, June worked at Indiana Bell, St Mary's, Welborn, Western Union, Hamburg's, Don's Cleaners, Ohio Valley Sound and So Fro Fabrics. In 1996, she moved to Aledo, Ill., to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She was an accomplished dress maker and seamstress and continued sewing well into her 90s!

She was preceded in death by her father, William Louis Cook; and stepmother, Susie (Mathews) Cook; mother, Clara (Medcalf) Olenick; and stepfather, Abe Olenick; stepsister Genevieve (Cook) Ruetz; husband, Eugene H. Kraft; husband, John (Val) French; son, Michael E. Kraft; son, Warren J. Kraft; son-in-law, Daniel Wayne; daughter-in-law, Mariquita Kraft; step-daughter, Sue Karcher; stepdaughter, Linda Fisher; stepson, Ricky French; and niece, Kaye (Foster) Moss.

She is survived by her son, Toby (Cissy) Kraft, of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Dee Kraft Wayne, of Aledo, Ill.; niece, Cynthia Foster, of Evansville, Ind.; stepdaughter, Jeri (Richard) Barchet, of Evansville, Ind.; stepdaughter, Paula Schaaf, of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Michael E. Kraft Jr., Shani (Tom) Moushon, Elizabeth Wayne, Sarah (Matt Holkup) Wayne and Michael (Heather) Wayne; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A private grave side service will be held in Evansville, Ind. A celebration of life will be held on what would have been June's 101st birthday, Dec 15, 2017, in Aledo, Ill., at a location to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
