Wyman Family,

I never met Coach Wyman but I sure heard a lot about him and also still do hear his name at least once a month or better. I live in the house that your family owned on Hillcrest Road. "My" house is and I think will always be known as Gunner Wyman's house. When people ask me where I live I tell them directions and then they say, "oh that was Gunner Wyman's house, right?" I just wanted to let you know that this small town of Vincennes sure hasn't forgotten your dad (or where he lived.)

Very sorry for you loss.

Dear Molly, Ann, and Will:

I was sad to see the notice from Margie about the death of your father. I offer my condolences.
I didn't know Gunner well; but have high school memories of him as a fine teacher and inspiring coach - even glamorous and dashing in his way.

Will,

There is no greater life purpose than to be known and called a Coach. Your Dad was a positive role model and influenced the lives of his ballplayers, managers, referees, opposing coaches, fans and scorekeepers in ways that we may never know. Glad you got to play for him at Lincoln and that he allowed me to continue to be a part of the team after leaving the water bottles behind in my 1st game as a manager vs. New Albany in 1975. Remember drinking out of paper cups? May you cherish the memories of Gunner as I do!

To the Wyman family,
I was so sorry to see that "Gunner" had passed away. I am a graduate of Tell City High School and only have fond memories of your dad and grandfather, as a coach and teacher. He was a good friend of my Dad, Bill Simms. He came to visit me when I attended WKU in Bowling Green, KY. He certainly touched many people. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am very sorry for your loss! I had Mr. Wyman in school for health class in Vincennes. I had seen the article a while back and sent an email to him about his accomplishments and how proud you must be. I graduated from Lincoln High School in 1990, the year he retired. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Molly:
It has been many years since IU, but I wanted to send my condolences to you and your family. Your dad was my high school coach's (Jim Barnett-Evansville Reitz)biggest rival and we all feared playing the Alices with gunner over there. Hope you are well.

Will,
I was so very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. It has been lots of years since you lived up on the corner from my house on Hillcrest Rd. Yes I still live down around the road on Elm Lane.

I worked with your Dad at Lincoln for lots of years as you may recall. My where does time go so fast? He sure was a great guy in my book. We shared lots of good times especially at the old Lincoln.

When I was just a young buck teacher way back in the late 60's, we had a big party at Sam Chattin's house after graduation. Tom Ernst and I went. Your Dad came by along with Coach Mills. Several others came by as well. My the stories those two could tell. It was a great night that I still remember to this day.

So with lots of fond memories of years past I send you as well as Molly and Ann my sympathy and prayers. The time seems to come too quickly for us all to move on to hopefully a greater place. At age 70 I am reminded of that more and more each day. Take care please. May God grant you peace and blessings.

To the "Gunner" Wyman family:
So sorry for your loss.
Coach Wyman and I go back to 1967 that is a long time.
I coached against him many times.
It made me a better coach and my teams better as well getting ready for those games.
He was tough to coach against as he wanted to gain the smallest advantages, with our schools being only 5 miles apart it was always a civil war.
He was a dandy person and excellent coach, a true Hall of Famer.
After we retired we became email pals and we then could become friends. he wrote some very nice things about me and I saved everyone. There is no greater praise than when one can get it from Coach Wyman.
He is a part of what is great about America.
God Bless, and Love,

To the Wyman family,
My parents were good friends of "Gunner" and Sally when they were in Tell City. I babysat a couple of times with you "kids". Your father brought such pride to TC with his style and success of coaching. He instilled many fine values into the young men he coached.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I just lost my mother in April so I know what you are going through. May God Bless you all.
