Alan Whitman Morton, age 79, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at his home, with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of 25 years to Sandra (Feher) Morton. Mr. Morton was born in Montreal, Canada on March 26, 1938, son of the late Nelson Whitman and Barbara (Robertson) Morton. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. During his career, he was a senior executive for many leading companies throughout New England, as well as in Bahrain and Taiwan. Mr. Morton served extensively in the community including as a member and financial officer of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in Milford for many years, as the former President of the Harbor Valley Yacht Club in Shelton, as the president of many associations where he resided, and as the Chairman of the School Board for the Taipei American School. Mr. Morton is the loving father of Virginia Soltys (Michael) of Charleston, SC, David Morton (Debbie) of Waxhaw, NC, Lori DeClement of Derby, and Linda Coscia (Carmen) of Shelton, and brother of Dr. Brian Morton (Joanne) of Ottawa, Canada. He is the beloved grandfather of Emily, Alex, Olivia, Savannah, Dan, Adam, Nicole, and Melissa, and great-grandfather of Connor. He is the uncle of Alan, Pamela, and Sheila. Friends may call on Tuesday January 2 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. His service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the parlor.
