Alta Smalley

SMALLEY Alta Janet Goad Smalley, age 72, of Waterbury, entered into rest on Sunday April 8,2012 at Waterbury Hospital after a 2 year battle with multiple cancers. She was born in Derby on March 16, 1940, daughter of the late Alton Schellenger and Myrtle (Urquhart) Goad. Alta, a longtime resident of Shelton, was a dedicated mother and daughter, who worked as a Certified Nurse Aid for over 25 years. She was employed for a majority of her career at the former Park Manor nursing facility in Waterbury. Alta is survived by a sister Maryel Goad Volkmar of Palm Coast Florida, three sons, James Smalley of Seguin TX, Dennis Smalley of Caanan, and Donald Smalley of Shelton, 2 grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy Smalley, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Norma R. Dolan. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday Evening at 6 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton.
