Birgit Lindeberg Obituary
Birgit A. Lindeberg, 78, of Easton, passed away January 31, 2013. She was raised in Ridgefield, CT, daughter of the late Gunnar and Ingeborg Almgren. She was valedictorian at Ridgefield High School and graduated from UConn in 1956, working in the educational field, mostly as a high school English teacher, ending her career in charge of the tutoring center at Norwalk Community College. She also had a master's degree in English as a Second Language from Fairfield University. Always interested in a new adventure, she travelled around the United States, Mexico and in Europe by train, plane and RV. She loved people, was curious and joyous, and brought laughter and smiles to everyone she met. She had a special connection with children and youth. Her other interests included singing alto in her church choir and the Northern Lights Chorus, regular breakfasts and card-playing with friends and activities with the Young at Heart senior group. She was an active member of Jesse Lee United Methodist Church over 40 years. In addition to her loving husband of 56 years, George, Birgit is survived by her children Lisa (Elias) Soria of Redlands, CA, Steven (Kasia) Lindeberg of Fairfield, CT, Christine Lindeberg of Easton and Erika Lindeberg (Steven Davis) of Lebanon, CT; brother Rolf (Pauline) Almgren of Ridgefield, CT; sisters-in-law Lillian Kennedy, Mildred "Lindy" Warren and Doris Lindeberg; grandchildren Aleksandra, Dylan, Natalie and Caroline; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Birgit's life will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at Jesse Lee United Methodist Church, 25 Flat Rock Rd., Easton, CT 06612. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions payable to "Jesse Lee UMC" may be mailed to the church in her honor.

With sympathy to George, Christine, Lisa, Steven and Erica in the loss of Birgit. She was a wonderful lady. Reading her obituary I can see she touched many lives. But above all she was so proud of her role as a wife and mother to your family. I hope you find solace in your memories and in each others' love. You honor her and your faith by going forward and living as she taught you to live. You will all be reunited one day but for now she rests in perfect peace. Love and prayers to you all.

To all of Birgit's family, Matt, our children and I (along with my family in Sweden) are so very sorry to hear about Birgit. She was such a wonderful woman and we all loved her very much! She took our kids to the beach multiple times when they were little, she helped me at NCC (Matt sent me to her) when I was a new student, and my family will never forget when your parents hosted Thanksgiving when they were here visiting many years ago. We last saw her at the Scandinavian club a few weeks ago where she gave our kids one of their raffle prizes! You are all in our thoughts during this difficult time. Love, Matt, Ammi, Rebecka and Adam
