Jonathan Anderson Obituary
Jonathan Roland Anderson, age 76, of Milford, loving husband of 39 years to Ellen Ann (Mellas) Anderson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 9, 1945 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Gunnar and Matilda (Demeter) Anderson. Jonathan was a Graduate of Andrew Ward High School in Fairfield, he joined the Air Force but received a Medical Discharge shortly after enlistment. He was a longtime employee of Fetzer Tire, he enjoyed restoring Triumph TR6 automobiles and had a deep love for his 1966 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, which won many trophies. Jonathan later worked as a machinist and retired from ENVIPCO after 29 years of service in 2012.
Jonathan enjoyed taking annual trips with his son to Rutland, VT, to hunt deer, a lifelong outdoorsman. When he wasn't in the woods hunting, you could find him on his beloved Robalo fishing boat as the Captain of the "Thumb's Up." He was a member of LISA (Long Island Sound America) and a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, Ellen Ann, he leaves behind his daughter, Kristin and her husband Mark Freeman; and his grandson, Brooks Anderson Freeman of Allentown, PA; his son, James Jonathan Anderson of Milford; brother-in-law, Chris Mellas and his wife Susan, and their daughter, Cassandra of Yorba Linda, CA; sister-in-law, Pat Anderson of Fairfield. Jonathan was predeceased by his brother, Roger Anderson. The family would like to thank the angels at Bridgeport Hospital Medical ICU for their kindness and compassion during his final days.
The Rite of Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave. in Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis, Presbyter, officiating, followed by interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 9:30am until time of service in the church. The family requests that masks be worn during the services. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport, was entrusted with the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church or to the charity of ones choice in memory of Jonathan.
