Howard, Melissa M.
Melissa Marie Howard of New Haven was born on March 5, 1967 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Linda Roseboro Bailey. She departed this life on January 14, 2016. Melissa was christened and baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She was educated in the Bridgeport Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1985. Melissa pursued a higher education at Central Connecticut State University earning a Bachelor's of Arts in 1989.
Melissa was employed as a social worker by the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services from 1994 to the present and held several other positions during her early career after college.
Melissa (fondly called Missy by family and close friends) loved competitive games, traveling, singing, dancing and listening to gospel music, sports and social media. Like her mother she was also a member of The Daughter of Elks Juanita Temple #169 IBPOEW.
Melissa was predeceased by her mother Linda and Godparents, Brenda Roseboro Hopkins and Willie C. White. She leaves one beloved son Quenten Darnel Howard and her brother Rodney E. Howard. She also leaves her aunts Darlene L. Bailey, Doris B. Arrington, Sonia Eppes, Niki Houston; along with her uncles Ronald Bailey, Jr., John Roseboro Bailey, Raymond LWF Bailey and Edward Arrington. Three nieces Linda Marie Howard, Paris Amore Howard and Yoneisha Reid; God brothers Brian and Damon Hopkins; Melanie Griffin a special cousin-big sister and a host of cousins and friends.
The family of Melissa Marie Howard wishes to thank everyone for their kind sentiments and deeds of love and compassion.
Homegoing Services will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 477 Broad Street, Bridgeport, CT. Wake will be held from 1-2p.m. immediately followed by her Service at 2 p.m. Professional Services entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, 985 Stratford Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06607. www.bakerfuneralservices.com
A Private Burial Service will be held for family next week
