Michael Horne Obituary

HORNE Michael W. Horne, age 75, of Stratford, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2004. at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to the late Michael and Mary Milo Horne, he was a resident of Stratford for more than 40 years. He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School and was a tool and die maker at Sikorsky Aircraft. He joined the Stratford Fire Department in 1959, and retired as lieutenant in July of 1989, and was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Mt. Olympus. He was a member of the Connecticut Yankee Drum Corps, the VFW Post 9460 in Stratford, the Germania-Schwaben Society, the Baldwin Center Seniors, the YMCA, the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters, for 14 years was a member of the Stratford Municipal Credit Union and the Coffee Club of Paradise Green. He was also an avid golfer and was secretary and treasurer of the USS Mt. Olympus Asssociation which was a big part of his life. Survivors include his beloved wife, Rose Ragonesi Horne; his devoted children, Michael J. Horne of Rockville, Md., and Debbie Horne of Milford; two brothers, Joseph Horne and his wife, Anne, of Torrington, and Robert Horne and his wife, Darlene, of Blandford, Mass.; two brothers-in-law, A.J. Ragonesi and his wife, Jacqueline, of Trumbull, and Joseph Ragonesi and his wife, Patti, of Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Ann Miekle of Fairfield, Elinor Dolnier of the Huntington section of Shelton, and Phyllis Detwiler and her husband, Frank, of Trumbull; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Horne. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. The family requests donations in his memory be made to the Stratford Firefighters Benevolent Fund or Make-A-Wish Foundation, 925 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.

Sorry to hear of Mike's passing....out of the immediate area and usually have to rely on friends keeping me informed...last saw Mike at our 55th class reunion a couple of years ago....always was a genuine friendly person...

I was sorry to learn of Mike's passing. I worked with Mike for several years and we worked well together. I liked Mike and it was hard for me believe he was 75,he always looked and acted younger.My condolences to his family.
