Sally was a talented and creative person. She could do anything. She loved gardening and antiques and enjoyed skiing, playing piano, crocheting, knitting, cooking and reading. She enjoyed traveling and giving beautiful gifts at Christmas. She loved her family and adored her brother Bud.
She is predeceased by her parents, Benn Starr Holroyd, Sr. and Florence Harriet Holroyd, her brother Ben Starr Holroyd, Jr. (Bud), sister-in-law Margaret Holroyd, and her nephew Michael Lyons Holroyd. She leaves behind her niece Susan (Jason) Simmons, nephews Jeffrey Holroyd and Christopher (Stephanie) Holroyd, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
Sally resided many years in Branford with her husband Ray and enjoyed life, with dear friends. Sally spent her last years at Madison House where she was cared for by the dedicated staff. She lived a long and productive life. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

I grew up in your school in Pittsfield, Miss Holroyd. 60 years later, I am still dancing. I love you and thank your for everything.

I can´t begin to express Sally Holroyd´s wonderful influence on my life. She was a creative, magical person who saw a beautiful swan where I saw something much less and she gave of herself to provide the acting and beauty pageant opportunities for me that only she could make happen.

Her North Street Pittsfield Ballet studio was my haven and she was the world´s most kind, knowledgeable, and glamorous instructor.

From her lavish recitals to her enchanted holiday decorations, she provided a glimpse into a world I could truly begin to dream about.

I will be forever grateful for this luminous soul and God surely brought her to me as an important guide to shape the direction of my life.

I hope she realizes now the many young lives she enriched with her love, joy, and wise guidance.

Eternally grateful,
Dawn McDermott
(Former Holroyd Ballet school student and member of the Ballet Arts Company of Pittsfield)
