Dr. William B. Dragan
Dr. William B. Dragan left this earth on January 11, 2025. He leaves behind his loving children, son Bill and his wife Stephanie, son Christopher, and daughter Alissa and her husband Toby Hampp, four grandchildren, Emma Dragan and her fiancé Jamie Havran, Molly Dragan, Max Dragan and Mari Dragan. He is survived by nieces Dorothy Discko and Joanne Sheely, and nephew John Discko. He was predeceased by the love of his life Margaret, his parents Vasil and Mary Chomiak Dragan, his sister Elsie Dragan Witiak and her husband John, sister Anne Dragan Discko and her husband John, niece Nancy Witiak and her husband Robert. Dr. Dragan received his schooling at Garfield Elementary and Harding High School in Bridgeport CT. before going to Temple University where he received his Doctor of Dentistry degree. After serving as a captain in the US Airforce for 2 years, he opened his first dental office in Southport CT before moving to Stamford where he practiced for almost 40 years. Always an inventor, in his spare time he developed a special delivery system for the then new, cosmetically appealing composite filling materials that were beginning to replace old silver fillings as the restorative material of choice. In 1970 he started Centrix Inc. to market and sell his invention to the dental profession. While working full time as a dentist and part time as a dental entrepreneur, he continued his dental education, writing papers and earning a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellowship in the Northeast Gnathological Society, and Membership in the Pierre Fuchard Academy. He was also a member of the American Dental Association and the Connecticut Dental Association. He felt his best accomplishment was creating Centrix, building on his experience as a working dentist to make products that made dentistry easier for both dentists and patients. He never stopped inventing, over his life he was inventor or coinventor on 95 patents. Dr. Dragan loved his company and all the people that worked in it. His greatest joy at 90 years old was riding his scooter through the Centrix offices and manufacturing floor to chat with whoever he came across, leaving them with a joke or two and always a smile. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, William B. Dragan Endowed Scholarship Fund
