Robert Blocher Obituary

He died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, in the Thornwald Home in Carlisle.

Born May 26, 1916, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Hoyt E. and Margaretta (Forrey) Blocher.

Mr. Blocher was the widower of Isabel (McBride) Blocher, who died Oct. 12, 1986.

The 1935 graduate of Carlisle High School was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a private first class in the Panama Canal Zone.

Retired from New Cumberland Army Depot, he was a hydraulics mechanic for aircraft.

He was a member of AARP and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle.

Mr. Blocher is survived by two sons, Richard P. Blocher of Shippensburg and Robert A. Blocher of Erie; a sister, Helen J. Mendler of Carlisle; four granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Hoyt F. Blocher, and a sister, Camille Smith.

The Rev. Richard A. Ruff will officiate at services. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Monroe Township with the Cumberland County Honor Guard.

Friends may call Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 125 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
