Leon Etheridge Obituary
Elizabeth City resident
Leon "Goody" Etheridge Sr., 88, of 217 Creek Rd., Elizabeth City, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Etheridge will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Walter L. Smith Jr. presiding and Rev. John W. Felton delivering the eulogy. The remains will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park. Viewing will take place at the funeral home today from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. The family will receive friends at the residence of the deceased. Mr. Etheridge leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Onella S. Etheridge; three daughters, Doris Rudisill (Preslee) of Fayetteville, Delphine Brown (Willie) of Palmdale, Calif. and Wanda Lee (Roosevelt) of Elizabeth City; five sons, Oscar Etheridge (Willie), Ricky Etheridge (Veronica), Douglas Etheridge (Romona), Randy Etheridge, all of Elizabeth City and Larry Etheridge of Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Marie Bowe of Trenton, N.J.; one brother, Bobby Etheridge of Chesapeake, Va.; eighteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Leon Etheridge Jr. Walson Funeral Home, 723 Parsonage St., is in charge of arrangements.
