Juliet Clopton Obituary

As a proud, loving mother of 5, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 3, Juliet had a life well lived. Jules was a Hermosa Beach native, Redondo Beach transplant. During her childhood, she worked at her Ruiz family's Mexican grocery store in Hermosa Beach along with her sister Irma and brother Mike. She met our Dad at a Compostela event where she danced the night away with our beautiful Aunt Fern Ruiz. She had two wonderful marriages and two cozy homes where she celebrated life with family and friends. She was grateful for her careers with The Navy and TRW, along with her community volunteer work. She remained busy with family, Senior Center activities and longtime friendships. Our family would like to thank the team of people that made her and our lives possible. We are blessed with great memories that will sustain us going forward.

May she be at peace. Julieta was my parents' flower girl at their wedding. She encountered my mom at a desert community festival and recognized her some time back. I also remember going to her father's store as a child.

My Julieta was an important part of my life for almost 50 years. She was an amazing woman who always had time to chat and laugh. She had a beautiful smile and I miss her greatly. I will always appreciate how kindly and warmly she welcomed me into her extended family of parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, children and grandchildren. My life has been changed by her and I will always cherish our time together. Much love to all.

I loved Aunt Julie so much! She was such a warm and wonderful free spirit with a terrific sense of humor. I'll never forget Christmas '69 when she gave me the most beautiful underwear set. I felt so grown up that day. All the school years of my life, I had worn Sears white chonies and camisoles (boring!) It was such a joy to wear the sets she gave me! She unknowingly taught me how important it is for a woman to wear beautiful underwear. No matter what her outfits looked like. It might seem like a trivial thing to anyone reading this but it is a coming of age story and I thank Aunt Julie for that. Whenever I purchase some new lingerie, I always think of her and the lovely gift she gave me! God bless you Auntie, your memory will live on with me forever

A year ago today we celebrated Jilly Jules' birthday. I am including a photo from that day. As her son in law, I was able to travel to Europe, through Mexico and California with her. I loved attending all of the Dorn grandkids sporting events with her. Her kids and grandkids were the lights of her life. We enjoyed many meals together; The Chart House, Leo's, Scardino's and Steve's are going to miss you Jilly Jules. Jules was kind, funny and quick as a whip. Her cat Posey was a loving part of the family, and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Looking out at the ocean from the Redondo Beach Esplanade will always remind me of Her. Our time at the beach, sitting in folding chairs, visiting with the dogs and passersby will always be one of my favorite memories. Kathleen and I will carry on all of our wonderful traditions. Thank you for letting me be part of your light.

Julie was my old time friend, mentor, and neighbor since 1972. Our families have been intertwined for 50 years. I admired her calm and wisdom and gentle spirit. She gave the best hugs and words of encouragement. She always sent me dates at Christmas when she lived in Indio. I can´t look across the street without warm memories of her. Sitting on on her little patio outside her kitchen felt like home. Julie will always hold a special place in my heart. You done good Jules.
