Charles Thies Obituary

Charles Byram Thies died after a long illness on August 31, 2014 at his home in Boulder, CO. Chuck was born March 22, 1931 in Peoria IL to Harriett and Charles K. Thies. His sister, Taschia preceded him in death. Chuck grew up in St. Louis, MO, graduating from John Burroughs School in 1949. He graduated from Princeton University in 1953 and entered the Navy that same year. He served as an officer on a destroyer in the Pacific for two years. He later attended Washington University and NYU law schools. In 1968 Chuck married Melinda Skinner. They had two children, Charles K. Thies II, and Kirsten Thies Ridilla (husband, John Ridilla; children Jack and Anna). All are part of a close, loving family, residing nearby in CO. After practicing law for a few years, Chuck switched to corporate management and rose to the position of president of Seven Up International. He eventually retired from the same position with Squirt & Company. Since that time, Chuck and Melinda have happily split their time between homes in Boulder and Boca Grande, FL. Chuck's ashes will be spread in his beloved Colorado mountains. Memorial contributions may be made to Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund, Inc., cfsrf.org, or AccentCare Hospice Care, 1180 Main St, Ste 9, Windsor, CO 80550.

Dear Melinda and family,
So very sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. We will miss seeing him at Sea Oats, but he will be in our thoughts. He lived a full life with a great family and many friends. May time and happy memories bring you all peace.

Uncle Chuck was my late father's best friend. He was a great, concerned man. He called frequently after my father's death to check on my mother and her health. My family will miss him.

Linda: So sorry to read about Chuck's passing. There was a time, years ago, when Chuck and his dad and I were very close in the practice of law in Clayton. My condolences to you, and your children. Richard D. Schreiber
