Elizabeth McLees Obituary

Elizabeth Gordon McLees, 97, of Boulder died Thursday, March 5, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, 1820 15 th Street, Boulder, CO. The daughter of William Parks Gordon and Jessie Walker Gordon, she was born April 18, 1917, in Farrell, PA. She married John K. McLees in Winterset, IA, on August 31, 1948. Elizabeth grew up in eastern KY and TN. She graduated from Sterling College, Sterling, KS, and UNC, Greeley. She was a teacher. They moved from IA to Boulder in 1962, owned a small motel and had real estate ventures. Elizabeth served on the home front by working for the F.B.I. in Washington D.C. during World War II in direct communication with Europe via International Morse Code. Elizabeth was an active member at the United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, IA, and First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. Survivors include a daughter, Jan McLees and son Jim McLees both of Denver. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2000 and her brother Paul Gordon in 1992. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Boulder or Sterling College, Sterling, KS 67579.

Jan and Jim, We are sorry for your sadness in losing your mother. We enjoyed her and your Dad so much through First Pres. There ties to Winterset and Bill's mother gave us much to visit about. Bill and Margaret Jones
