Patti Marie (Walker) York of Boulder, Colorado left this earth to reside in the kingdom of our Lord on August 18th, 2014. She was 57 years of age and passed away due to complications following a heart transplant. She was born on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day) 1957 in Warren, Ohio to Donald (deceased) and Martha Walker. She grew up in Champion, Ohio and upon graduating from Champion High School attended Kent State University where she received a degree in nursing. She worked at St. Josephs Hospital in Warren until moving to Colorado in 1986 and began a career at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. Before leaving the hospital in 1998 she returned to Regis University and attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued her nursing career in the field of disease management most recently for Alere Medical. On October 14th, 2000 she was married to Gary York, also formerly of Warren, Ohio. The marriage took place in the manor lodge at Punderson State Park in Newbury, Ohio. Patti was a past member of the Warren Junior Military Band where she developed a great enthusiasm for drum and bugle corps. She also enjoyed flowers, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, wildlife viewing and hiking on trails in the mountain community where she lived. Patti is survived by her loving husband Gary of Boulder, Colorado, her mother Martha Walker and sister Cathy Giammarco, both of Champion, Ohio, a brother Donald of Arvada, Colorado and a brother Dick of Warren, Ohio. She is also survived by two nieces, Leeann Cupp of Champion, Monica Walker of Warren and a nephew, D.J. Giammarco of Champion. Viewing will be held at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, Colorado on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4-8pm. Services in Warren, Ohio will take place at a later date. I was so saddened to hear of Patti's passing. Heaven has another beautiful angel. She was such a warm hearted, loving and kind person. Her laughter and smile were so inviting, she could brighten any day. She always made the time to stop and say hello when she was in the office. I will remember her fondly and her beautiful smile.... Patti was the kind of individual that we should all try to mimic ourselves after. She had a contagious smile and a heart of gold. She was a woman who had so much love to offer everyone around her and was a great patriot. She was always positive in every situation and managed to see the good in everything no matter the circumstance. Patti had an immense and lasting impact on every life that she was a part of. She gave my husband and I more compassion, support and love than we could ever express. Patti will be gravely missed and while she is no longer here with us in person she will forever live on in our hearts.

Patti was undoubtedly one of my very best friends. I will miss our walks and talks. She was considered one of the family and she will be dearly missed at our family dinners and get togethers. She taught us grace and elegance, was one of the most warm generous people I have ever had the honor of knowing. To call her my friend was truly an honor. I miss you dearly already Patti. I love you! Patti was a highly regarded Clinical Supervisor on my management team at Alere. She has touched the lives of so many people. We are so saddened by her passing. I will miss her deeply. She was such a kind, sweet person with the biggest heart. Christmas time will be tough when it comes around as she has sent me and my family cookies the last several years since we've been working together. Patti was my manager at Alere and was always very supportive and, even though we didn't always meet face-to-face, due to the nature of our jobs, I could always hear the warmth and smile in her voice. I loved to hear her stories of her life behind Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder and of her visits back to Ohio. I am so glad to have known her and she will be missed.
