Regina Kull Obituary

Dec. 20, 1919 - July 25, 2016

Regina (Reggie) Elizabeth Nickels Kull was born on Dec. 20, 1919 to John and Magdalena (Pfann) Friedrich in Parkston, SD. There she grew up to attend Sacred Heart Parochial School. Later she graduated from Parkston High School where she was senior class president and president of the newly organized student council.

She was a dental assistant for Dr. Merchant in Omaha, NE before coming to California in 1942. During the war she worked in the upholstery department covering ailerons and rudders at the Douglas Aircraft Company in El Segundo, CA. In 1945 she was hired as Registrar of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic - a position she held for 10 years. It was there she met Q. Wendell Nickels whom she later married. She assisted him in his office in Davis for 23 years until his death in 1973. Two years later she began working at the University of California - Davis until she retired in 1986.

She married Edward Kull in April of 1985. They continued to reside in the home he had built adjacent to the Kull family homestead until her death.

Reggie was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Yolo Fliers Club where she served as Captain of the Women's Golf Group and also as Captain of the Women's Golf Team. She enjoyed both jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She was a founding member of the Woodland Library Rose Club.

On July 25, she passed quietly in her sleep. She is survived by her beloved husband, Deacon Edward Kull; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Cheryl) Kull as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Reggie was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Dr. Nickels; four sisters; one brother and sister-in-law, Lorraine Kull.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m., at Kraft Bros. Chapel. Rosary from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Woodland. Officiating will be Most Reverend Myron J. Cotta with presiding concelebrant priests.
