William Kenneweg Obituary

William F. Kenneweg, Jr. SAUGERTIES-William F. Kenneweg, Jr., died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, after a short batttle with an aggressive cancer. The son of Dorothy Wintjen and William Kenneweg, Sr., he was born Feb. 5, 1962 in Huntington. He was a wonderful, caring man, who went out of his way for everyone and will be deeply missed. William gave the gift of his life selflessly to others. Always there to offer hands and heart, he served for years as an assistant Boy Scout leader. Many know his cheerful personality from being a lumber manager at Singer Denman and dairy manager at Boiceville Market. Working most of his life in retail management, he also worked for Myron Lumber for nine years, designing truss systems for churches and nursing homes. An avid gardener, who could grow anything, he developed an excellance for creating stone walks and paths. He is known in the Woodstock area as Jelly Bill, creating savory and sweet jams this community loved for the last sixteen years. William was a graduate of Red Hook High School and received an associate degree from Columbia-Greene Community College, and was a forestry major at Syracuse University. Surviving are his fiance, Barbara Vilela of Pine Bush, a son, William, C. Kenneweg and his mother, Dawn Waterman of Malden on Hudson, his sisters, Betty Jane Volpe and her husband Rick of Melville, Gail J. Marshik of Huntington Station and Carol Anne Tsouros and her husband Wayne of Huntington Beach, Calif., and nieces and nephews. His extended family included Jason and Terresa Bazelow and children of Asheville, N.C. and Laura and Timothy Mannix of Goshen. Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. At 8 p.m. a memorial service will be held. William wished to be cremated, following the services.

My sincere condolences to the family & friends of Bill. Many years ago I worked with Bill at Miron Truss & Components, he was a good friend & coworker. He always had a smile on his face & always willing to lend a hand. It was a great pleasure to call him friend. He will be missed.

Bill, you were my first "boss" that I ever had when I started working. I worked with you for a little more than 3 years at the Boiceville Market as your assistant, and you were one of the nicest, funniest, most caring guys I've ever met. We had some great times together, and you could always make me laugh. I looked forward to work every day when we worked together because I always had fun. I'll never forget some of the great times and talks we had, and it always made my day running into you around town over the past couple years. I can't express how grateful I am to have known you, and I'll always miss you, Bill.

Barbara, I'm so sorry to hear that has Bill passed. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to get to know Bill over the summer, and I enjoyed listening to his stories(and factoids). He was a great guy who will be sorely missed. You will not be far from my thoughts. Sincerely, JoAnne (the soap lady)

Bill, a friendly neighbor and ever helpful. Too young to leave his friends and family. He will be missed in our little corner of Blue Mountain, in Woodstock, and elsewhere. Stay happy, man. The stream will keep rushing past; the coyotes will yowl; the bear will ramble by; the deer will scatter; and the mountains will shimmer in sunlight or hide in storms, only to return another day.

Bill, my memories of you back in the day with my sister will live on always! Your jams and jellies were the best and I know will never be duplicated! You were definitely one of a kind!
